Astrology

Astrological subject matter. Historical basis, Getty: "Medieval Europeans believed that the movements of the sun, moon, stars, and planets directly affected their lives on earth." Current tattoo practice, artist interview: she makes "meaningful tattoos based on your story through astrology & numerology" and "Before I even begin designing, I dive deep into my client's chart - their sun, moon, and rising signs". One of the few themes in this batch with both a tier 1 historical source and a tier 2 tattoo-domain source.

  • Rising Signs: The Medieval Science of Astrology (opens in a new tab)

    Tier 1

    J. Paul Getty Museum

Getty exhibition page. Verbatim: "Medieval Europeans believed that the movements of the sun, moon, stars, and planets directly affected their lives on earth." SELF-CORRECTION RECORDED: a search-result summary attributed a further sentence about "the 12 signs of the zodiac" to this page; that sentence is NOT on the fetched page and is not cited.

  • Miss Kali Tattoos, tattoos halfway between energy and talisman (opens in a new tab)

    Tier 2

    Tattoo Life Crew, Tattoo Life

Artist interview with Caroline Lindskow (Miss Kali Tattoos). Verbatim: she makes "meaningful tattoos based on your story through astrology & numerology" and "Before I even begin designing, I dive deep into my client's chart - their sun, moon, and rising signs". The tattoo-domain half of the astrology theme; the Getty source carries the historical half.
