Triangular

Grouping elements into a stable triangular or pyramidal mass. Defined by a Tier 1 art institution and named in the HTDIO pack's own composition list, but NOT attested by any tattoo source in this batch: “In the classical tradition, triangular or pyramidal compositions were used because they created a sense of balance and harmony by arranging the figures into a stable overall geometric structure.”

Conflicts or cautions
ART-HISTORICAL SOURCE ONLY, AND THIS ROW SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED AS TATTOO-DOMAIN COVERAGE. Tate is Tier 1 by institution and says nothing whatever about tattooing. The transfer from easel painting to skin is INFERENCE, marked as such. Registered because the pack's own composition list names triangular and a later task should be able to see that the concept exists and is thinly evidenced, rather than re-derive it from memory.

  • Tate

Tate art-term glossary entry. Supplies the general definition this corpus's whole composition contract rests on - “the term usually refers to the arrangement of elements within a work of art” - and one named arrangement type from the pack's own list: “In the classical tradition, triangular or pyramidal compositions were used because they created a sense of balance and harmony by arranging the figures into a stable overall geometric structure.” IMPORTANT LIMIT, STATED BECAUSE IT IS EASY TO MISCOUNT: this is Tier 1 by institution and says NOTHING about tattooing. It is an art-historical source about painting. The batch's tattoo-domain coverage number must not count it, and the one row citing it is confidence low, review_status draft, with the transfer marked as inference. DELIBERATELY NOT USED: the same page defines allover composition and relational composition. Neither term appears in the HTDIO pack's composition list nor in any tattoo source fetched for this batch, so neither was minted. Registering art-historical vocabulary the domain does not use would inflate the corpus with terms no query will ever ask for.
