What a four-hour session actually covers

How much ground a four-hour session covers, why it is the standard booking unit, and how the session rate compares to hourly.

Post

From the chair.

The session is the unit of work here, not the hour. Four hours is long enough to finish a stage of a larger piece and short enough that the last line is as clean as the first.

This post walks through what a stage actually is on a sleeve, on a back panel, and on a cover-up, and why the session count is estimated before a date is picked rather than after.
